Leaving Paradise is another book by Simone Elkeles. After reading bothPerfect Chemistry and Rules of Attraction, I figured I would try out her other books. This one was not as great as the other two I had previously read, but it was still very well written. The book is short and I read it in about 5 hours (with distractions of my daughter and such). I love the character of Maggie Armstrong. She has been going through many hardships trying to overcome what had happened last year when her friend Caleb Becker hit her with his car while driving drunk. She hated him and he was getting out of juvie early. This shocked her. She was planning on going to Spain so she would not have to deal with him being around her. It would be too hard to handle.
They eventually are forced to be together and Maggie Armstrong’s long time friend and the one who was responsible for all of the scars on her legs, starts falling for her. You’ll have to find out for yourself if she falls for him back. Personally, I thought the book went a little fast and didn’t give enough detail about the characters and what they were thinking. I also thought the ending could have been better, but there is going to be a sequel to this book called Return to Paradise, so hopefully it will fill all the questions I have.
